CATE*GORIES

when laughing manically alone doesn't suffice

Last July 24th was a Sunday…

and I got to work on Patrick’s strawberry cake with funfetti icing, as requested– and as is the same selection for today 😂. Later, my parents joined Patrick and me for his birthday lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. During lunch, I felt some new pains and, as the day went on, we began to time their recurrences.

Declan didn’t officially make his four-day-early debut until the following afternoon, presumably so that he wouldn’t have to share a birthday with his Dada– and I don’t think Patrick minds either… 😂

Parenting, marriage, LIFE… cliche as it may sound, it’s truly riding an ever-changing roller coaster. 🎢 Most of the time, you have no idea what’s around the next bend and just when you think you’ve learned and you have a better grip on what to expect, it changes. Sometimes it’s utterly joyous and thrilling… other times, it’s scary… like the floor comes out from under you.

Happy birthday to my sweet husband… the loving Dada to my Schmoosh… the one buckled in next to me for this crazy ride. When we go up, yours is the hand I find comfort in and when we go down, yours is the hand that triumphantly joins mine in the air. Up and down, around and around we go. Should the coaster ever slow, you’ll never have to ask. With just a wink of your eye, you can suggest, “Shall we go again?”

And yes, forever yes, we shall.

I love you! 🎂❤️🎉🎈🎊
