3 REASONS TO MAKE THE MOVE ALREADY

If you’re considering a move– especially a big one– and your deadline for doing so keeps moving into the future, I’m talking to you.

In January 2015, my husband and I relocated from Philadelphia to St. Petersburg, Florida to be closer to family and in search of a more relaxed, slower-paced lifestyle where we could eventually start a family.

At some point, you’ve already personally concluded that the move YOU have in mind will benefit you somehow– maybe mentally, financially, or even emotionally.

Maybe you’d like to move closer to family, or perhaps further away from yours…

So, beyond your own personal reasons, here’s a scoop of some additional motivation to get your sh*t in gear.

IF NOT NOW, WHEN?

There’s a common expression about having kids… something along the lines of, “if you wait until you have enough money to have kids, you’ll never have them”.  Unless you run into a financially rewarding situation such as winning a small fortune, receiving an inheritance, or being gifted moolah in exchange for getting married (as was the case for hubs and me), the same concept applies to your big move.  If you keep telling yourself that you’ll move when you have the extra money to do so, you’ll likely always stay put.  Unless you’re actually abiding by strict savings goals, it might be time to rely more on realistic strategy and some spontaneity, rather than a lottery win.

CHANGE & REFRESH

You likely already know it, but, to remind you, change is refreshing.  In fact, you’ve been experiencing changes and refreshments your entire life, they just seem to become less frequent– yet more momentous– as an adult, so you have to introduce some yourself.  As a kid, your teacher relocates everyone’s desks multiple times throughout the year.  You move your bedroom furniture around to suit your personality.  You start a new school year.  You join a new sports team.  You have a new crush.  You wear a new style.  You move on to high school.  You start at a new school altogether.  You enter the workforce.

…And then things get a little static.

Could it possibly be more rewarding and empowering to let go and move on than it is to play it safe in one place?  Will you ever really know without trying it out?  If you don’t like it, can you go back?

Yes, yes, and yes.

No matter where you go, your lifestyle is going to experience an adjustment, affordability will vary, and you’ll encounter a varying degree of opportunities that weren’t available to you before.

Maybe your next move is your next big moment.

IT’S ONLY AS HARD AS YOU MAKE IT

If you have the determination and desire to succeed at a big move, then the rest is only as hard as you make it out to be.  Here we’ve discussed a few reasons WHY you should get going on your next move, but next I’m going to give you some tips on HOW you can maneuver around those little “but-what-about”‘s that have kept you in one spot.

Your life if waiting for you. You only have so much time to figure things out before the rest of it begins, or, so that it can begin at all…?
